The Museu Rural in Palau-Sator was created in 1984 with the goal of recovering and preserving a disappearing historical and cultural legacy. The visit to the Museum is a service open to educational bodies that may consider it useful for their work.

The learning objective sought and which should be accomplished with this visit is for the student to learn to know, appreciate and respect the rural patrimony. To achieve this objective, teachers should work on the subject at three stages: first, in the classroom with a session explaining basic points and issues related to the farmhouse, and what the visit will be like. The second phase consists of a visit to Museu Rural during which the students would fill in their work sheets. The third and final phase is another classroom session to review and evaluate the visit.

The visit includes several observation and work points. In first place there is a part devoted to the Masia (Catalan farmhouse), the tools and implements, and the carriages and tartanes (light carriages). A second part is devoted to the traditional trades. The third part is devoted to the kitchen, living quarters, the barn, the cellar and other usual places in a farmhouse.
Adjacent to it is the projection room where one can see the production process of bread, oil, salt, rice and wine in the film "Where does food come from?". There are other films available (upon request).

Once the visit to the Museum is over, a visit to the Palau-Sator historical quarter would very interesting in order to get to know a village that has preserved its medieval living structure and also some buildings allowing us to easily understand how people lived many years ago: the fountain, the washing place, the clock tower, the old schools, etc
